Welcome to the LDHS Writing Skills WIKI page.

Common Ground:
We have high standards for our students and ourselves. We want our students' writing to be clear, concise, complete, and cogent. If that is the case, then let's empower them with the writing skills necessary to be effective and efficient at researching and writing essays and short answer responses. This is best done in a collaborative effort to share e-resources, writing tips and guides, sample essays/short answers, and time together to discuss these issues. If we are more direct and consistent with our writing expectations, then we will also be more reliable and helpful for the students. This applies to all subjects/courses in the Social Studies Department.

Writing is a process and one that gets easier with practice. It also gets better with clear directions, expectations, models/samples, rubrics, and prompt feedback.

Writing for the Social Studies Department can be so much fun.
